Take another run at rpm systemd stuff
...
Not all platforms have the rpmbuild macros, let's just try
inlining the equivalent steps.
This may require manually reloading and registering systemd
on older systems (centos7).

I think tom did break the build after all!
...
Make it easier to see that get-deps.sh failed.
Adjust perl-FindBin dep; it depends on which
version of which distro whether it even exists.
