Wez Furlong 49eb0a634c smtp_server_ehlo: pass in and allow returning a list of extensions
This is helpful in situations where you need to do things that
are not strictly supported but might just happen to squeak by
if support is claimed for them.

Wez Furlong 5f19f7ce04 add deferred_queue option to the smtp listener
This option should be used with caution, and ideally only
for trusted networks.

The purpose is to absorb the latency of post-DATA processing
and hide it from the trust injector.

It defers processing that would normally happen in smtp_server_message_received
and instead will, at some (ideally) near-future time trigger an
smtp_server_message_deferred_inject event instead.

This will marginally increase your average injection latency but should
clamp your worst case injection latency much lower because the outliers
will not happen inline with the injecting client.

Wez Furlong d063c96b5f yell loudly when sig.register() should have been called
A number of our lua event handlers allow registering multiple
implementations to facilitate modular use.

For that to work, we must know ahead of the user lua call running
that any given handle is allowed to register multiple times. This is so
that we can report a meaningful error when incorrectly using a singleton
handler multiple times, and so that we can record a list of handlers
for the multiple case.

Prior to this commit, if we forgot to arrange to register the signature
as part of the context setup the consequence was that the event handler
would get registered as a singleton and when we went to call it, because
the signature is marked as allowing multiple but was not registered
as multiple, we would skate through and do nothing without reporting
an error because we assumed that the signature was registered
consistently.

In hindsight, that's a terrible idea because it results in silently
ignoring the registration issue, and not calling the event handler
at all.

This commit consolidates the multiple/single value resolution into
the same flow, then adds a check to confirm that we have a list
of handlers registered for the allow_multiple case, raising an
error otherwise that will hopefully encourage users to report
this problem to us if it manifests again in the future.

This commit includes fixing two event handlers that we missing
their signature registration.

One of them was broken anyway by being registered with a name
that didn't match the docs.

Wez Furlong 6321557cd0 requeue_message: add smtp_response
This plumbs the smtp response through to the requeue_message event
handler.

While hooking this up, I noticed tha the registered named of the
event was `message_requeued` instead of `requeue_message`. That
name was from the original implementation of the event, and it
just got overlooked when the rest of the references to its
name were updated.

Wez Furlong a16a886f0e add requeue_message event
In the end I decided to implicitly make the message due for immediate
delivery in the case where the queue was changed; I couldn't think
of a good reason not to do that, and it simplifies the implementation
both of the event internals for anyone implementing the event
themselves in their lua policy.

Wez Furlong 1872dc71a0 shaping: calling shaper.should_enqueue_log_record is no longer required
Allow multiple should_enqueue_log_record hooks to be registered,
and take advantage of that inside the shaping helper.

`shaper.should_enqueue_log_record` no longer needs to be explicitly
plumbed from the config, but we allow calling it still for compatibility
reasons.

We will remove that compatibility after the next stable release.

Wez Furlong 929d51deba events: plumbing for registering multiple handlers
Previously, we'd restrict `kumo.on` to allowing just a single
instance of an event to be registered. The purpose of this was
to help surface logical errors where copypasta would result in
a bogus configuration.

With multiple helper lua modules now wanting to take responsibility
for some portion of the event handling, it is becoming more complex
to stitch things together.

It is desirable to allow multiple handlers for certain events,
so that a module can handle just its area of responsibility
without worry other modules about it.

This commit introduces a CallbackSignature type that allows
defining the function signature for event callbacks.

The signature can be pre-created and registered ahead of setting
up any lua contexts, which allows declaring whether an event
can have multiple callbacks registered.

The `get_queue_config` event handler has been set to allow multiple
callbacks.

Wez Furlong 99fcfbc64e kumod: refresh queue_config periodically
This commit causes the scheduled queue maintainer to refresh
the queue config by calling the get_queue_config event approximately
every minute while the queue is alive.

In addition, we now thread the routing_domain through to get_queue_config
2023-08-12 06:22:54 -07:00
Wez Furlong 3fd76dd45a introduce routing_domain concept
Augments our queue name format to be
`campaign:tenant@domain!routing_domain`.

The routing_domain is optional. If the routing_domain is not set, its
effective value is that of the recipient domain.

You can `msg:set_meta('routing_domain', 'bar.com')` to set the
routing_domain for a message, so if the original recipient was
`user@foo.com`, that would cause the computed queue name for it to be
`foo.com!bar.com`.

The routing_domain is used when deciding on the ready_queue name
and destination MXs, so continuing our example, instead of resolving
`foo.com` MX records we'd resolve `bar.com` and deliver to that site.

The `get_egress_path_config` event `domain` parameter is redefined to be
the effective `routing_domain`.

The `get_queue_config` event `domain` parameter is the regular recipient
domain. The `routing_domain` is not currently made available to
`get_queue_config`. If/when we expose it, it will likely be via a
queue name object instead of adding an additional parameter. That would
be a breaking change.

The consequence of not exposing this parameter is that per-message
routing scenarios for the same domain (but different routing domains)
cannot vary the scheduled queue parmeters (eg: retry intervals). Even
though they would have separate scheduled queue instances, those
instances would have the same scheduled queue parameters. If you need
to be able to do that, then explicitly setting the domain portion of the
queue name would be a way to do that: `msg:set_meta('queue',
'foo.com-via-bar.com!bar.com')`. `get_queue_config` would then be
called with `domain='foo.com-via-bar.com'` and your policy could then
respond accordingly.

The name is passed through to should_enqueue_log_record as an additonal

should get queued for a specific log hook instance.

This is a breaking change, but it can be easily resolved by adding
the name parameter to the `configure_log_hook` call.

To facilitate this, the DomainMap rust structure has been exposed
to lua code via the new `kumo.domain_map.new` function.

Wez Furlong b7c557c31a define_egress_(pool|source) -> make_egress_(pool|source)
Switch the configuration plumbing for pools and sources to be pull-based
rather than push based.

In other words, rather than defining them in the `init` event,
you now need to supply them to the new `get_egress_pool` and
`get_egress_source` events.

Data is cached by default for 1 minute. This allows for new sources
to come into being on-demand, and for data to age out and change
over time, without requiring that the server be restarted.

This commit updates the reference section, but there is some content
in the user guide that refers to the old style of configuration that
will need to be updated.
