Not used in production, but in benchmarks, to demonstrate minimal RTT. (It would be nice to not have to copy the 8KiB of zeroes, but, that would require larger protocol changes). Found this useful in investigation https://github.com/neondatabase/neon/pull/8952.

How to run
To run all benchmarks:
cargo bench
To run a specific file:
cargo bench --bench bench_layer_map
To run a specific function:
cargo bench --bench bench_layer_map -- real_map_uniform_queries
