A fork's upstream remote can default to a different branch than origin.
Read refs/remotes/<remote>/HEAD for the tracked remote and fall back to
origin's default only when git never recorded it. Reuses the default-branch
resolver's host routing and cache.
A branch made with `git switch -c feature/x origin/develop` tracks the
default branch. When its own PR lookup missed, the tracked-upstream fallback
attached the newest PR whose head is `develop` (an unrelated develop to
release PR) and cached its number, so the wrong link survived restarts.
Drop a match headed by the tracked upstream when that upstream is the default
branch of a repo PRs target. The check runs only after such a match, so normal
polling adds no git calls, and it also heals numbers cached before the fix.

Extract subprocess execution and process contracts into @orca/process-host with explicit public entry points, independent checks, and one Node 18 compatible CommonJS runtime. Migrate application consumers and integrate package builds, dependency selection, import enforcement, and runtime resource staging.
Preserve daemon startup ownership and profile isolation, and qualify development rebuild recovery and concurrent output publication. Remove unnecessary aliases, test forwarding exports, and a duplicate output scan.
Validation: full typechecks, changed-code quality, package and artifact checks, native Windows builds/types plus 306 runtime tests, and independent native reviews.
Matched full E2E controls on original main and unchanged reviewed head both pass all 17 applicable tests (nine skips). Earlier intermittent E2E failures are documented in the PR; no assertions were weakened. The final combined-tree audit preserves both branches with no import-boundary violations.
Refresh only actual on-screen review cards and the selected visible review panel, with a single metadata owner per execution host. Open reviews refresh every 60 seconds when selected and 120 seconds otherwise. Settled merged reviews stop automatic refresh; pending merged checks continue, hidden rows stop, and work changes or stale re-exposure discover fresh state.
Remove the polling setting. Preserve provider/SSH/runtime ownership, mixed-version cache behavior, failure backoff, bounded foreground admission, request coalescing, and mutation invalidation. Cover older persisted caches and unknown HEADs.
Validated with 1,628 focused tests, typechecking, lint/code-quality gates, hidden Electron viewport checks, and parallel Codex/Claude Opus 5.5 adversarial reviews. Measurements and policy details are in PR #25788.

* Add board layout support for GitHub project views
Board-layout views render as a kanban. Columns come from the view's
verticalGroupByFields (the host retries without the selection on older
GHES schemas and the renderer falls back to the Status field), with one
column per single-select option in option order — empty ones included —
plus a trailing no-value column whose drop clears the field. Card drops
reuse the table's field mutation path, committed from a document-level
capture listener because the preload's native-drop bridge stops drop
events before React's root ever sees them.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(github-projects): harden board capability probe and drop lifecycle
Review follow-up. The verticalGroupByFields capability probe now matches
parsed GraphQL error messages instead of substring-scanning the whole
response body — partial-error responses echo the field name as a data key
on healthy schemas, so one SAML/FORBIDDEN partial error could permanently
degrade github.com boards for the session. Covered by new
project-view-config tests per the capability-cache testing contract.
Also: only single-select/iteration vertical fields shape columns (a
drifted field kind no longer yields a clear-on-drop no-value column),
optimistic patches resolve the column field through the board/group
config, drag cleanup moved to a document-level dragend listener, the
column dot follows dark mode via the chip CSS variables, the supported-
layout allowlist is a single shared predicate, and the board's edit
handler is stable so its drop listener stops re-registering per render.

Resumes the backlog sweep at a chunk size that actually gets read. Six auditors, 84 files
each, and all six read their full scope case-by-case against production — the first wave
where every chunk closed with no gap. 33 case declarations removed across 22 files, 1 test
file deleted, 826 lines gone. No production code touched.
This wave exists because a conclusion of mine was wrong. I had recorded that yield collapsed
~36x and that deletion was no longer the high-value work. I was dividing cases removed by
files IN SCOPE while the fraction auditors actually READ fell from 100% to about 4%, because
I kept handing them 300-800 files. Recomputed against files read, yield has been flat at 4-7
per 100 with no downward trend. This wave came in at 8.2.
The most instructive removal looked like the most valuable test in scope.
`orchestration-worker-release-reap-fixed.func.test.ts` cites a production bug by two
identifiers, describes orphaned PTYs accumulating until `TasksMax=4096` aborts processes on
EAGAIN, and advertises itself as the functional tier wiring the real orchestration RPC
surface, the real `OrchestrationDb` and the real release modules. Deleting it leaves no
reference to that bug anywhere in `src`.
It still had to go: its fake runtime performed the fence it asserted —
if (pty.incarnationId !== inc) { return null }
handleTable.set('term_reminted', { ptyId, epoch: rendererGraphEpoch })
— so the case checking that a reused ptyId with a mismatched incarnation does not resolve was
checking a decision its own spy made twenty lines earlier. The real fence is owned by
`orca-runtime-terminal-handle-incarnation.test.ts:257`, and the other two cases replay
`orchestration-worker-release-incarnation-fallback.test.ts` (which uses a plain
`mockReturnValue` rather than reimplementing the remint) and `worker/worker-release.test.ts:23`.
"Integration test" and "wires real modules" describe the scaffolding, not the asserted step.
Other removals: a self-comparison disguised by an alias, where
`export const getIssueOwnerRepo = getOwnerRepo` makes a case asserting the two "agree" into
`f(x) === f(x)`; four cases whose `vi.mock` of `resolveIssueSource` made both the preference
value and the topology inert; five verdict-precedence cases owned by a verdict-agnostic block;
three call-shape probes on one-line store pass-throughs whose real contracts are driven by
behavioural neighbours; and a `export type _Ref = [...]` declaration whose own comment admits
it exists only to preserve test-only module-surface references.
Kept after checking production rather than shape. An auditor found two near-identical
ten-reconnect loops and kept both: one uses a test-local live-lease filter, the other the
shipped `sshRemotePtyLeaseAllowsReattach` predicate, and the file's own comment explains the
duality is deliberate "so the two cannot drift". Another kept a paths-alignment case that
looks like a validator tested against its own list, because adding a generated file without
registering its path does fail it — and `shellReadyWrappersExist` uses that registered list to
decide whether a partial tree needs regeneration.
Production duplication is now confirmed four times over, and it is why mirrored tests exist:
`createUpdateWorktreeLineage`/`createAssignWorktreeParent` differ by one `console.error`
string; `terminal-path-tap.ts` and `document/path-tap.ts` carry hand-maintained copies of
`matchFilePathAtColumn` under a docblock reading "keep the two in sync". In those cases both
test sides are load-bearing and the duplication belongs on a refactor list.
`mobile/tests-typecheck-baseline.txt` loses one entry. Trimming
`relay-host-signed-out-verdict.test.ts` made it typecheck clean, so the ratchet required
pruning its grandfathered entry — the file graduates from exempt to enforced. Baseline is now
124 entries, down from 125.
Verified: 690 test files / 7,560 cases pass across the touched desktop areas; the modified
mobile files pass (162 cases); `check-tests-typecheck-ratchet.mjs` OK (898 files in program,
124 grandfathered); `check-reliability-gates.mjs` 140 gates; the deleted file is absent from
the gate manifest, `cloud/package.json` and the mobile baseline; nothing under
`mobile/src/test-support/rpc-recording/` or `mobile/rpc-foundation/goldens/` touched.
Audit sweep over `src/main/{native-chat,startup,daemon,skills,ssh,providers,git,
persistence,claude,agent-hooks,github}`. 35 case declarations removed across 23
files, 1 test file deleted, 655 lines gone. No production file touched.
What went, by pattern:
- Duplicate invocations of a contract owned exhaustively elsewhere: three
`publishDaemonEndpoint` cases that `daemon-endpoint-publish.test.ts` already
covers in 20, and three daemon health classifications (`HEALTHY`, `DEGRADED`,
`UNREACHABLE`) that `daemon-health.test.ts` owns. `WEDGED` and `WEDGED-HELLO`
stayed — the never-resolving-RPC and never-answers-hello paths have no other
owner.
- Provider-local replays of a shared helper: five `GitStatusReadLeaseOwner` cases
re-run per provider, owned by `src/main/git/git-status-read-lease-owner.test.ts`,
and `returns the connectionId` replayed in three provider suites against an
identity getter.
- Assertion-free coverage probes, including one whose comment says "no writes
should happen" while nothing checks that.
- Copied inventories that restate a type: `PROVIDER_FRAME_CLASSIFICATIONS` is
declared `as const satisfies Record<...>`, so a missing key is already a type
error and an extra key fails the excess-property check. Those cases also pinned
key order, which is not a contract.
- A negative control that cannot fail: asserting a profile-state filename is not
an unrelated literal, in a file whose first case already pins that filename
positively.
- Byte-identical duplicates across files, and a second case re-asserting the
`unverifiable -> true` mapping the case above it already proves.
`src/main/providers/ssh-git-provider-api.test.ts` goes: 52 method names asserted
`toBeTypeOf('function')` plus `toHaveLength(52)` over its own literal. Note the
reason, because the obvious one is wrong. "The `IGitProvider & SshGitProvider`
annotation enforces this at compile time" does NOT hold — removing an operation
from the interface and its implementing class in one commit still compiles. What
makes the file redundant is that all 51 extractable names are referenced by some
other test under `src`, so dropping an operation breaks a behavioral test anyway.
The same check kept the three `registers all expected handlers` manifests in
`src/relay` during the previous wave, where eleven methods had no behavioral
caller at all. An inventory test is a ratchet if and only if at least one entry is
pinned solely by it; that is verified per entry, not per file.
Kept deliberately: everything a reliability gate cites, checked by case TITLE and
not only by file path, because the gate script resolves paths only; bound, quota
and provenance guards; the Windows MSYS job-breakaway and daemon-host relocation
tests, which guard failures that pass every existing gate; SSH execution-boundary
verdict vocabulary; and Git capability tests covering first fallback, cached call,
concurrent probes and per-host isolation as four distinct risks.
Coverage is partial and stated as such: of 1,449 files in scope, roughly 990 were
read case-by-case and 452 received title-and-grep triage only. The unread paths
are recorded for a later sweep rather than assumed clean.
Verified: per-area suites green (`daemon`+`skills` 294 files/3016 cases;
`git`+`persistence` 414 files/4476 cases; and the rest), gate manifest 140 gates,
`check:code-quality:changed` 0 new findings. A combined 11-path local run put
1,563 files through one machine and surfaced three timing-sensitive failures in
files this change does not touch (`history-manager`,
`structured-agent-session-refusal-retry`, `ssh-remote-commands`); all three pass
in isolation, and no production code changed, so CI's sharded run is the arbiter.
Deletes 101 test files and trims 112 more, all matching documented junk
patterns: exact source/import/string greps, copied inventories and export
lists, duplicate invocations of a contract another test already owns,
typeof-shape checks TypeScript already enforces, and self-comparisons.
The largest group read a production `.ts` file and asserted on its text —
for example a TaskPage test that required the source to contain
`selectedRepos.find((r) => r.id === newIssueRepoId) ?? selectedRepos[0] ?? null`.
Any behavior-preserving rename broke it; no behavior change ever did.
Production-side follow-through: exports that only these tests imported are
de-exported or deleted, stale comments pointing at removed censuses are
dropped, and the reliability-gate registry, `cloud/package.json` test lists,
and orphaned source-reading helpers are updated so nothing references a
deleted file.
Two files kept their real coverage and lost only the census scaffolding:
`agent-status-producer-census.test.ts` now drives all five producers end to
end instead of grepping the source tree, and `config-toml-trust-stale-writes`
replaces an export-list parity check.
* feat(github): bind projects to a specific gh account
Adds per-project `Repo.ghAccount` so repo-scoped gh calls (create-worktree
issue/PR search, work items, hosted-review reads and mutations) run as the bound
account via ephemeral child-env token injection instead of the globally active
gh login. Multi-account resolution is capability-gated (gh >= 2.40) and fails
closed when the bound account or host is unavailable; Project View stays
ambient by design.
Repository settings gains a section for selecting or clearing a keyring-backed
account (shadcn `Select`), with mixed-version "not enforced" handling for older
remote runtimes. Attached `-Rhost/owner/repo` forms are covered by the host-drift
guard and its tests; es/ja/ko/zh catalogs carry the section's strings.
`getLocalProjectGhExecOptions` centralizes the binding lookup so every gh
execution path picks it up, including the Electron `hostedReview:*` handlers
that previously stayed on the ambient login. `gh auth token` (a keyring read)
is exempt from the rate-limit breaker gate so a tripped bucket cannot turn a
bound-token resolve into a false "unavailable".
The `ghAccount` update field and the two binding RPC methods live in the shared
RPC params contract; the generated catalog is regenerated.

Flip `anti-slop/no-shape-in-symbol-names` from "off" to "error" and clear
every violation under src, config, tests and mobile.
What the rule bans
------------------
The case-insensitive substring "shape" in any JS/TS identifier: variables,
functions, parameters, types, type parameters, class members, private names,
object-literal keys and JSX identifiers. The one exemption is a statically
accessed member read owned by another value (`zodObject.shape` is fine), so
third-party APIs stay readable without a suppression.
"Shape" names a value's structure rather than its domain role. `UserShape`,
`validateArgShape` and `errorShape` all tell you the symbol is "an object
with some fields" -- which is already what a type says -- while saying
nothing about what the value is for or who owns it. The rule forces the
name to carry the domain instead.
Violations fixed
----------------
689 violations across 109 files at baseline (verified by re-running the
audit against the pre-change tree with the rule set to "error").
Fix pattern
-----------
Rename for the domain role, not the structure:
-type FieldShape = 'list' | 'map' | 'whole'
-const FIELD_SHAPES = { ... } satisfies Record<keyof Observation, FieldShape>
+type FieldEncoding = 'list' | 'map' | 'whole'
+const FIELD_ENCODINGS = { ... } satisfies Record<keyof Observation, FieldEncoding>
-function assertGitPushTargetShape(target: unknown): void
+function assertValidGitPushTarget(target: unknown): void
-function describeReadDirPathShape(p: string): ReadDirPathKind
+function classifyReadDirPath(p: string): ReadDirPathKind
Predicates became statements about the value (`isDeltaShapedProviderFrameKind`
-> `isDeltaProviderFrameKind`, `isDeleteShapedDiscardEntry` ->
`discardDeletesEntryFile`, `isSkillsCliAgentKeyShaped` ->
`isUsableSkillsCliAgentKey`). Type aliases dropped the suffix where the
remaining name was already unambiguous (`GhGraphqlErrorShape` ->
`GhGraphqlError`).
No wire-visible name was renamed: no IPC or RPC channel, stream opcode,
request/response param, persisted field, or i18n key. The `--shape=symlink|copy`
CLI flag read by .github/workflows/skill-update-roundtrip.yml is unchanged --
only the local variable holding it was renamed.
Exemptions
----------
They are file-scoped entries in config/oxlint-anti-slop.json, not inline
`oxlint-disable` comments. An inline directive naming an anti-slop rule reads
back as an UNUSED directive under the root lint scan, which does not load this
plugin -- the changed-code quality gate counts that warning, so the comment form
cannot be used for a rule that lives only in this config.
* src/renderer/src/components/browser-pane/annotate/**:
in the screenshot annotator a "shape" is the drawn geometry -- pen, arrow,
rect, ellipse, highlight. That is a genuine domain noun, and it pervades
every symbol in the module.
* repo-icon.tsx, repo-header-project-actions.tsx, mobile MobileRepoIcon.tsx:
lucide exports the icon component as `Shapes`. The name is theirs, and the
matching REPO_LUCIDE_ICONS key is the persisted icon name shared with the
desktop picker -- renaming it would orphan saved repo icons.
* src/shared/onboarding-state-types.ts, src/shared/constants.ts:
`shapedSidebar` is a persisted onboarding-checklist field and a telemetry
enum member; renaming it would orphan saved state.
* src/shared/rpc-contract/rpc-send-params.ts: matching zod's own literal `shape`
property is what selects the ZodObject branch of the conditional type.
No exemption was added merely to avoid a rename. Eight symbols initially
suppressed as "a cross-module refactor outside this change" were proven to have
zero non-TypeScript references repo-wide and renamed instead.
Zod's `ZodRawShape` needed no exemption at all: `Readonly<Record<string,
z.ZodType>>` is its definition, so repo-update-params.ts and
ui-update-value-tolerance-params.ts spell it out instead. Likewise
telemetry-event-classification.ts now reads `.shape` through an `in` narrowing,
which also retires two pre-existing type assertions; three more assertions the
rename had dragged onto changed lines (two `JSON.parse` sites, one node:sqlite
row read) became annotations and an explicit row mapping.

* `pnpm run check:code-quality:changed` reports 0 findings.
Not machine-verified: the 3 mobile/ files (its Vitest run cannot resolve
`expo/tsconfig.base.json` in this worktree), and the WSL- and Playwright-gated
specs. All are rename- or comment-only hunks, read in full.
The rule rejects `vi.mock` / `vi.doMock` / `vi.unstable_mockModule` and the
`jest` equivalents, on the argument that a test which rewrites the module graph
asserts against a stand-in the production code never sees. It is already off for
`**/*.test.{ts,tsx}`, `**/*.spec.{ts,tsx}`, `tests/**` and `**/__mocks__/**` via
the existing override in config/oxlint-anti-slop.json; that override is
unchanged here. What the rule actually catches is module mocking that has drifted
out of a spec and into a first-party `.ts` support module, where nothing marks it
as test-only.
73 violations at baseline, all of them in test-support code. 9 were relocated
back into spec files the override already exempts; the remaining 64 sit in 10
files that are test-only but do not match the override globs, and carry a
file-level disable naming the rule and the reason.
Relocated:
- terminal-hydration-store-test-bootstrap.ts: the sonner / sync-runtime-graph /
pty-transport `vi.mock` calls moved into the two specs that import it
(terminals-hydration-canonical-rows, terminals-hydration-canonical-pty-overlap).
Vitest hoists `vi.mock` inside a test file, so registration is strictly earlier
than the previous module-eval-time call; the bootstrap keeps only the preload
API proxy. Both importers were updated.
- ipc-events-ssh-authority-test-fixtures.ts: the 6 direct-ssh `vi.doMock` calls
moved into useIpcEvents-agent-status-ssh-authority.test.ts as a local
`stubDirectSshModules()` helper, which also de-duplicates the three copies the
spec already had inline. The fixture now returns the store state and coordinator
doubles it builds, typed via the exported DirectSshReconnectCoordinatorDouble.
Suppressed, with justification (each is `/* oxlint-disable
anti-slop/no-module-mocking -- ... */`, rule named, no blanket disable):
- config/scripts/headless-serve-shutdown-matrix.test.mjs (1) - a genuine Vitest
spec that the override misses only because its globs say {ts,tsx}. The script
under test is a top-level CLI module; the alternative is spawning real docker.
- src/main/codex-accounts/runtime-home-service-test-harness.ts (1) - stubs one
probe predicate in ../pty/shell-startup-env, imported directly by several
main-process readers; 17 specs share it.
- src/main/computer/desktop-script-provider-test-harness.ts (2) - stubs
child_process/fs-promises for a provider that shells out; 8 specs share it.
- src/main/github/work-item-search-test-harness.ts (4) - one consumer lives in
tests/e2e, where the relative mock ids resolve differently, so moving the calls
into the specs would silently stop mocking there.
- src/renderer/src/components/automations/automations-page-test-harness.tsx (14)
- the mount rig for 10 AutomationsPage specs.
- src/renderer/src/components/terminal-pane/remote-runtime-pty-transport-test-harness.ts
(1) - stubs refreshWebRuntimeSessionTabsSnapshot, imported directly by several
renderer runtime modules; 18 specs share it.
- src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events-agent-status-window-test-fixtures.ts (7) -
stubReactSyncEffect/stubAuxiliaryModules, shared by 11 specs.
- src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events-close-routing-test-harness.ts (11) - stubs
and hook invocation are one unit; 4 specs share it.
- src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events-terminal-create-test-harness.ts (13) - its
only spec is at 799 of an 800 max-lines budget.
- src/renderer/src/hooks/ipc-events-test-harness.ts (10) - shared by 8 specs.
No violation was converted to real dependency injection, and no max-lines disable
was added.
Verified: the audit command exits 0 with no output (and reports errors on a
planted probe, so the rule is live); node config/scripts/run-typecheck-projects-in-parallel.mjs
exits 0; 354 spec files / 2506 tests covering every importer of every touched
file pass. No mobile/ file was touched.
The changed-code quality gate's root Oxlint scan runs without --config so it never
loads the anti-slop JS plugin, which made all 10 of those file-level suppressions
read as "Unused oxlint-disable directive". check-changed-code-quality.mjs now
exempts directives naming an anti-slop rule from that unused-directive warning,
the same carve-out isCastingDirectiveUnusedWarning already makes for the casting
suppressions the casting config enforces. Such a directive can never suppress a
root-config rule, so nothing the root scan would otherwise report is hidden;
audit:anti-slop remains the scan that enforces the rule.
* fix(git): skip upstream remote probes when the remote is absent

The guard asserted that no git command runs for an open PR, using "no git at

separate concern, so allow it and keep every other command forbidden; the
symbolic-ref/rev-parse resolution this issue is about stays unreachable.

`ForgeProvider.createReview(repoPath, input, connectionId, options)` and the
`connectionId` on `ForgeProviderRepositoryContext` carried the same collapse the
five prior migrations closed: `string | null` spells "genuinely local", "runtime
host" and "could not resolve" with one value. Because it was decided two layers
up -- `repo.connectionId ?? null` at the `hostedReview:*` IPC handlers and in
`RuntimeHostedReviewCommands` -- a row naming its owner only as
`executionHostId: ssh:<target>` ran the whole review path against this machine's
copy of a remote path (#11163): `git rev-parse`, `git status`, the base-on-remote
ref probe, the upstream divergence read, and `gh`/`glab` with no host flags.
Replace it with a required `ExecutionHostId` threaded from the decision point
through the contract, routed by #18296's `resolveGitRouteForHost`. The parameter
is removed rather than added beside, so all five implementations -- GitLab,
GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, Gitea -- and every caller became a compile
error. None of these families carries `@ts-nocheck`, so unlike #18325 that
guarantee is real here; `orca-runtime-file-commands.ts` does, but it only
constructs `RuntimeHostedReviewCommands` with unchanged deps.
Also fixed at the sites:
- The branch cache scoped entries on `connectionId ?? ''`, so two rows at one
path on different hosts shared one cached review, one backoff deadline and one
invalidation. Keyed on the resolved host now, as #18377 did for its probe key.
- `hostedReview:create` resolved shared symlink paths and normalized worktree
paths off the raw field, so an `executionHostId`-only SSH row read `orca.yaml`
and `resolve()`d a remote POSIX path on the client. Those ask the file-holder
question -- `getRepoSshConnectionId` -- not the dialable one.
- An SSH host with no provider now refuses inside the git-state layer instead of
reaching the local branch, keeping "remote and unreachable" distinct from
"local" (docs/reference/ssh-execution-boundary.md).
`runtime:` is a routing mistake inside `hostedReviewSshConnectionId` -- that
environment's server runs its own git, and the SSH target on its repo row is
nested in that server's namespace, so dialing it here reaches a same-named box of
ours. But store-backed callers ask `getRepoHostedReviewExecutionHostId` first,
which is "what may this client dial" and answers `local` for a `runtime:` row.
That is deliberate and matches #18377: the runtime registration controller only
adopts a `runtime:` stamp onto a row with no `connectionId`
(`runtimeRepoMatchesExecutionHost` refuses to match an SSH row), so the checkout
really is in this process and refusing would regress a runtime server creating
reviews for its own rows.
No wire change. `connectionId` on `CreateHostedReviewArgs`,
`CreateStackedHostedReviewArgs` and `HostedReviewCreationEligibilityArgs` in
src/shared/hosted-review.ts is untouched -- every host already ignores it in
favor of the repo row, and removing it from the request types would only churn
the schema older clients still populate. The main-side eligibility input `Omit`s
it so nothing on this side can read the ambiguous field again.
`checkOrcaStarred`, `starOrca` and `getAuthenticatedViewer` were the only gh
call sites that reached for the legacy `execFileAsync` instead of
`ghExecFileAsync`, so they ran with no deadline, no process-tree kill and no
coalescing. A `gh` that never exits therefore ran forever and never released
its slot in the 4-wide GitHub semaphore in gh-utils.
Route all three through `ghExecFileAsync`, coalesce concurrent star checks onto
one child, and hoist the Landing star-state effect out of the conditionally
rendered footer so a repo-catalog rewrite no longer remounts it and re-forks gh.
Adds a ratchet test asserting no file outside the command runner names `gh` as
a spawned program.
Fixes#18234
* perf(codex): share one launch-prep hook install across a spawn burst
Codex launch prep runs a full managed-hook install on every local PTY
spawn, and both install lanes serialize globally per Codex home. Opening
a multi-pane worktree therefore paid N full installs back to back, and a
resumed Codex pane prepares twice. Concurrent spawns for the same runtime
home now share one run; the promise is dropped as soon as it settles, so
the next launch still re-reads hooks.json and the user's trust state.
Also split the `host_env` spawn-timing phase, which spanned the entire
Codex preamble and pinned that cost on the env builder that ran last.
* refactor(codex): unify the two hook-install single-flight lanes
Both the WSL and launch-prep lanes now share one generic in-flight helper
instead of duplicating the map bookkeeping. Also routes the WSL launch-prep
install through the serialized variant, which closes the same per-spawn
serialization gap on WSL that the native lane just got.
* refactor: extract the shared in-flight run dedupe
The codex hook service and the GitHub conflict-summary cache had grown
near-identical private copies of the same single-flight helper. Both now
use one module, which also keeps the hook service clear of the 300-line
budget. The shared copy keeps the identity check on clear so a late settle
cannot evict a newer entry for the same key.
* perf(git): bound git subprocess execution with an atomic admission scheduler
Field traces (#16038, #11363) show Windows freeze storms driven by unbounded
concurrent git children (12+ at once, 50-65s status convoys for 25+ minutes).
Admit every main-process git child against atomic per-budget base+headroom
counters (general / network / per-route), with reserved interactive capacity,
ordering-only aging, close-bound permit release, a 120s fail-safe read timeout
that feeds scheduler backoff, tier plumbing through every option carrier, and
coalesced+jittered visibility pollers. Killswitch: ORCA_GIT_ADMISSION_DISABLED=1.
Storm harness A/B: max concurrent children 65 -> 6, interactive p95 791ms -> 88ms;
output-parity battery byte-identical with admission on vs off.
* test(git): run the admission output-parity battery on every platform
Parity needs real git, not the storm harness's PATH stub, so it must not share
that file's POSIX gate - Windows is the platform where parity evidence matters.
* fix(git): preserve interactive admission invariants
* perf(git): keep admission queue drains linear
* fix(git): close final admission gaps
* perf(git): bound eligible route selection
* fix(merge): remove unrelated stale snapshot changes
* fix(git): preserve refresh lifecycle authority
* test(git): align admission lifetime contracts
* fix(git): harden admission across runtime paths
* fix(git): restore freshness for bulk status reads
* test(git): repoint delete-dialog source pins after admission plumbing
The hydration effect now orders its targets through
orderDeleteWorktreeStatusHydrationTargets and passes includeLineStats
alongside the abort signal, so both literal anchors stopped matching.
The invariants are unchanged and still pinned: dropping the signal, the
main-worktree/folder filter, or getState-instead-of-subscribe each
still reddens this test.
* Fix git admission tier propagation and lock ordering
Decode optional Git status tiers permissively and default runtime RPC status reads to the status lane while preserving renderer caller intent.
Acquire the FETCH_HEAD mutex before atomic admission so same-repository fetch waiters hold no global or route permits.
Preserve automatic pull-request refresh reasons, keep explicit hosted-review refreshes interactive, remove the dead candidate tier, and keep relay scheduling unchanged.
Use tier-aware status lease keys because a shared lease cannot be safely promoted after its admission request is queued or granted.
* test: align expectations with admission plumbing
* refactor(child-process): move the process contract types to process-spec
run-process.ts crossed its line cap after gaining the termination observer;
the public types and defaults move out with re-exports so no caller changes.
* chore: restore pnpm-lock.yaml to main (unintended local drift)

* Fix draft review sidebar actions
* Drop unused React import in draft actions test
The automatic JSX runtime makes the default React import dead, and
tsconfig.tc.web.json failed the branch on TS6133.
* Add localization keys for draft review actions
The new Ready for review controls introduced five untranslated keys and
the static analysis job requires them present in en.json.
* Name the draft action for what it does
The button read 'Ready for review', which states a status rather than an
action, directly under a header already showing the PR state. The i18n
key (markReady), the in-flight label ('Marking ready...') and the success
toast ('marked ready for review') all already used the verb.
* fix(github): scope GHES host-auth cache to the executing connection
The gh auth answer cached for a connection-backed repo is probed without
the repository cwd, so it describes that connection's runtime — not the
local host. Keying only on repoPath+wslDistro let a local repo and an
SSH-hosted repo at the same path share one entry, and whichever resolved
first decided "is this GHES host authenticated" for both.
Include the connection identity in the runtime cache key. Local and WSL
keys are unchanged.
* fix(github): fence GHES auth cache across SSH reconnects
* fix(github): fence origin cache across SSH reconnects
* fix(github): fence repository identity cache on reconnect
* refactor(github-client): reorganize client into lifecycle folders
* refactor(github-client): extract PR refresh data and outcome assembly
Separate the derived data calculation and outcome assembly logic from
branch-lookup-resolution into dedicated modules for better separation of
concerns. Modernize type import syntax and format exports consistently.
* refactor(github-client): improve error handling and resilience
Defensive GraphQL parsing prevents partial responses from breaking REST fallbacks.
Cache failures now use shorter TTLs for faster recovery. PR operations have
dedicated error classification. GraphQL mutations track rate limit usage to prevent
quota exhaustion. Data validation improved to reject spurious values.
* Extract check rerun error classification with operation context
Create classifyRerunChecksError() to provide operation-specific error
messages when check reruns fail. This replaces generic GitHub error
copy with context appropriate to what the user attempted (rerun
checks). Follows the pattern of classifyListPrsError and improves
error handling by delegating extraction to extractExecError.
* Make check-rerun not-found error message resource-neutral
Error handling for failed check reruns now covers both workflow-run
reruns and standalone check-run rerequests. Tests verify the neutral
message works for both scenarios.
* fix(github): fail closed when the SSH git provider is gone
getCurrentHeadOid and probeTrackedUpstreamBranches only routed through the
SSH provider when one was registered. With connectionId set but the provider
unregistered (dropped connection, not yet reattached) they fell through to
client-side git with cwd pointing at the remote repoPath — on a machine with
a same-named local path that silently answers for the wrong repository.
getCurrentHeadOid feeds shouldHideMergedImplicitPR, so a wrong OID changes
which PR the UI attributes to a worktree.
Both now take their existing unknown path (null / probeFailed) instead,
matching repo-default-branch.ts. Local and WSL routing is unchanged.

* fix(github): propagate SSH identity failures

* fix(github): preserve indeterminate auth discovery

The GitLab, GitHub, Jira and Linear integration modules, their two IPC
registrars, and the shared GitHub project types each carried a file-level
`eslint-disable max-lines` and ran 351-614 counted lines against a 300-line
budget. AGENTS.md calls for splitting rather than suppressing, and
config/max-lines-baseline.txt is a shrink-only ratchet, so this removes all
eight suppressions and prunes their entries (341 -> 333).
Pure move, no behavior change. Each client is cut along the seam it already
had: per-operation modules for the issue APIs (create / update / comment /
field options), and for Jira the request queue, site credential store,
authenticated request, and site identity. The two IPC registrars keep their own
handlers and delegate the rest to per-domain sub-registrars, so they remain
real entry points rather than re-export shims.
The IPC surface is proved intact rather than assumed: comparing (method,
channel) multisets between HEAD and the split gives 52 registrations across 52
distinct channels on both sides.
Provider-neutrality is preserved -- GitLab and GitHub keep separate, parallel
module layouts rather than being merged behind a shared abstraction.
Verified: oxlint clean, ratchet passes, typecheck clean, full unit suite green
(the one remaining failure is a pre-existing load flake in an untouched file,
green when re-run serially), no new runtime import cycles among 744 modules,
and no lint suppression added anywhere.
* refactor(tests): split oversized test files off the max-lines suppression list
Every `*.test.ts`/`*.spec.ts` that carried an `eslint/oxlint-disable max-lines`
directive is now split into focused, behavior-scoped suites that fit the 800-line
test budget, with shared setup extracted into co-located `*-test-harness.ts` /
`*-test-fixtures.ts` modules (300-line budget). 83 files became ~930; the largest
output is 797 effective lines. `orca-runtime.test.ts` is intentionally untouched.
Test bodies were moved by scripted line-range slicing rather than retyped, so
assertions are byte-identical. The only permitted body edits were mechanical
rebinding where a shared value moved into a harness (e.g. `tmpHome` ->
`homes.tmpHome`).
Registries that enumerate test files were updated in lockstep:
- config/max-lines-baseline.txt: pruned 341 -> 258 entries (all 83 removed).
- config/reliability-gates.jsonc: 33 gates repointed at the split files, with
assertionRefs split per file where a gate's coverage now spans several.
- .github/workflows/pr.yml: the real-zsh lane now lists the 4 split files that
actually exercise zsh, so they keep running in the dedicated shell lane.
Also renamed agent-hooks `server-test-fixtures.ts` to `server.test-fixtures.ts`
so the global-fetch call-site audit keeps skipping it, and added `.js` extensions
to the CLI suites' dynamic harness imports (node16 resolution) to unbreak
`build:cli`.
Verification: full suite 52,449 passing vs 52,448 at baseline with zero
assertions lost; `pnpm lint`, `pnpm typecheck`, and `pnpm build:cli` all exit 0;
the terminal-pane e2e spec runs 31/31 headless.
* refactor(tests): split hook-idle arbitration suite that oxfmt pushed over budget
The pre-commit oxfmt pass reflowed pty-connection-hook-idle-arbitration.test.ts
to 811 effective lines, 11 over the test budget. Split the hook-completion side
effect and replacement-agent veto cases into their own suite; both files now sit
well under the cap and the 15 tests are unchanged.
* test: port upstream test changes into the split files after rebase
Rebasing onto main surfaced 27 tests that main had added to files this branch
deleted, plus edits to tests that had already moved. Taking the deletion side of
those modify/delete conflicts would have dropped that coverage silently, so each
upstream change is ported into the split file that now owns the behavior — for
example main's six orchestration mailbox tests land across orchestration-runs,
-send, and -check.
Also repoints `orchestration.notification-mailbox-consistency`, a gate main added
after this branch's gate remap, at those same three split files, and re-prunes
the max-lines baseline against main's (257 entries).
Verified: all 27 upstream test titles present; full suite 52,761 passing with the
only diff vs baseline being 12 tests main itself removed and 3 that moved from
skipped to passing; lint and typecheck exit 0.
* fix(test): flush pending continuations before tearing down terminal test globals
CI shard 5/16 failed on both Node 24 and 26 with `ReferenceError: window is not
defined` from pty-connection.ts, surfacing through
pty-connection-daemon-snapshot-replay.test.ts.
The reattach/settle chains `await` a real promise and then touch `window.api`.
Under fake timers those continuations cannot run, so they only become schedulable
once restoreTerminalTestGlobals() switches back to real timers — which previously
happened immediately before `delete globalThis.window`, so a late continuation
threw and failed the whole file. Flush async ticks in that window instead.
This is latent in the source rather than new: the pre-split 25k-line file kept
running other tests after these, which gave the chains time to settle before
teardown. Splitting the file moved teardown directly behind them.
* fix(test): keep an inert window after terminal test teardown instead of deleting it
The async-tick flush was not enough: the reattach/settle chain can resolve after
teardown regardless of how long we drain, so CI shard 5/16 still failed with
`ReferenceError: window is not defined` from pty-connection.ts.
A real renderer never loses `window`, so deleting it was the artificial part.
Swap in an inert proxy whose properties resolve to callables and whose calls
resolve to undefined, making a late `window.api.pty.*` call a harmless no-op.
The next test replaces it wholesale via installTerminalTestGlobals(), and no test
asserts that `window` is absent.
#14397 split `shared/types.ts` into 46 per-domain modules but kept the path as
a re-export barrel so the import sites did not have to change. This removes
the barrel: every consumer now imports from the module that actually declares
the type, and `src/shared/types.ts` is deleted.
Barrels hide where a type lives, make every consumer look like it depends on
the whole domain, and let an unrelated edit invalidate a module that ~2,000
files transitively import.
2,323 import declarations across 2,321 files. Rewritten mechanically: each
specifier was resolved to an absolute path via the TypeScript AST and
recomputed, rather than string-substituted, so alias forms (`@/../../shared/
types`) and per-specifier `type` modifiers survive.
Four cases the mechanical pass had to handle, each found by a gate rather than
by reading the diff:
- Modules inside `src/shared` import the barrel as `./types`, not
`shared/types`. A pre-filter on the latter string skipped 176 of them and
left imports dangling at a deleted file, which surfaced as confusing
`Property 'x' is optional in type 'Repo' but required in Pick<Repo, ...>`
errors rather than "module not found".
- The barrel RENAMED one type on the way through
(`WorkspaceSource as WorkspaceCreateTelemetrySource`), so the original name
in the owning module has to be re-aliased at each consumer.
- Three test files put `;(globalThis as ...)` on the line after the import.
TypeScript parses that `;` as the import statement's terminator, so
replacing through `statement.getEnd()` deletes it and breaks ASI. The
rewrite now stops at the module specifier.
- A file that already imported directly from a module got a SECOND import
from it, because the barrel re-exported those same names — which trips
`import/no-duplicates` under `--deny-warnings`. A post-pass merges
declarations sharing a specifier and type-only-ness; the `import type` plus
`import` pair from one module is left alone, since that form is allowed.
Splitting one barrel import into several genuinely adds lines, which pushed
`terminal-layout-pty-ownership.ts` to 301 counted lines: its 107-character
import must wrap, and neither local type collapses onto one line (101 and 116
characters). Rather than contort a type declaration to fit a line budget,
`collectLeafIds` and `pruneLeaves` move to `terminal-pane-layout-tree.ts` —
they are pure structural operations on the layout tree and independent of PTY
ownership. `visible-worktrees.ts` similarly loses its own mini-barrel
re-export of `isDefaultBranchWorkspace`, with the four real consumers
repointed at the declaring module. No `max-lines` bypass added.
Verified: cold `tsc --noEmit` green on node, cli, and web (buildinfo deleted
first — these projects are `composite: true` and reuse stale caches); the full
`pnpm lint` green, not just bare oxlint — the narrower local check is what let
the duplicate imports reach CI; max-lines ratchet OK at 344.
`src/shared` is a flat directory of ~1,150 entries. The worktree, github, and
linear domains accounted for 71 of them, so finding the module you wanted meant
scanning a wall of same-prefixed filenames.
Move each domain into its own folder and drop the now-redundant prefix:
src/shared/github-pr-types.ts -> src/shared/github/pull-request-types.ts
src/shared/worktree-id.ts -> src/shared/worktree/id.ts
src/shared/linear-links.ts -> src/shared/linear/links.ts
This follows the existing `network/` and `new-workspace/` convention in the
same directory, which also drop the prefix inside the folder.
Whole clusters move, including tests. Foldering only part of a domain would be
worse than flat: a reader would have to check both `github/` and the flat
directory, and `github-auth-types.ts` / `github-project-types.ts` are type
modules that belong with the rest. No files with these prefixes remain flat.
Import specifiers were rewritten by resolving each one to an absolute path and
recomputing it, not by string substitution, so the `@/../../shared/...` alias
forms are handled correctly. 501 specifiers across 298 files.
Two things `tsc` cannot catch, handled explicitly:
- `github-project-types.ts` carries its own `max-lines` bypass, so its baseline
entry is REPOINTED to the new path rather than pruned. Pruning would drop the
bypass and then flag the new path as a fresh violation. Ratchet stays at 345.
- `mobile/` is outside `pnpm typecheck` and cannot be typechecked here
(`mobile/node_modules` is empty). Instead every relative specifier in the repo
was resolved against the filesystem: 174 unresolved before this change and 174
after — identical, so nothing broke in mobile either.
The pinned `tests/e2e/.cross-version-checkouts` fixtures are deliberately NOT
rewritten; they are a snapshot of an older release and still reference the old
paths.
Verified: cold `tsc --noEmit` green on node, cli, and web (buildinfo deleted
first — these projects are `composite: true` and reuse stale caches).
* fix(workspaces): gate the GitHub palette number match on repo identity
`repoMatchesGitHubSlug` returned the permissive `'unknown'` whenever the repo
displayName was not in `owner/repo` form and no upstream metadata existed — the
common basename-named non-fork case. The caller only rejects on `false`, so a
pasted issue/PR URL could activate a workspace in a different repo that happened
to share the number, since issue/PR numbers are per-repo.
Mirror the GitLab gate from #14381: fall back to the probed
`gitRemoteIdentity.canonicalKey` before giving up, comparing host and owner/repo
after normalizing port, `www.`, and case. An `upstream`-derived identity stays
`'unknown'` because `deriveGitRemoteIdentity` ranks `upstream` above `origin`, so
a fork's own origin is invisible and rejecting would drop URLs from the fork the
user actually checked out.
The canonicalKey compare runs after the displayName branch: displayName is
compared host-agnostically, so mirrors and host aliases of the same owner/repo
keep matching as they do today, and the probed remote only fills in where no
name evidence exists.
Refs STA-4237
* fix(workspaces): keep SSH host aliases matching in the palette identity gate
`git remote -v` reports ssh.github.com, www., and ~/.ssh/config `Host` aliases
verbatim, so comparing a probed canonicalKey against a pasted URL host rejected
legitimate GitHub/GitLab remotes. Normalize the alias hosts both sides can fold
offline, and downgrade a host-only mismatch to 'unknown' when the probed host is
dotless (an unexpandable OpenSSH alias); dotted hosts like ghe.example.com still
lose. Lifts the GitHub host normalizer into shared instead of a third copy.
* fix(repos): keep the www host fold out of the derived project identity
getProjectIdentityKey feeds the persisted Project id, so folding www. there
re-keyed existing projects on upgrade and dropped localWindowsRuntimePreference.
Restrict the fold to the palette's URL-vs-remote comparison, and pin the derived
id for a www. remote so it cannot drift silently again.
Enable eleven oxlint rules that simplify code without changing behavior, and fix
every existing violation. Each candidate was gated on measured cost rather than
assumption, so rules that regressed runtime performance or type checking were
dropped instead of suppressed.
typescript/no-redundant-type-constituents is the largest addition: 113 sites, no
autofix. Dead constituents are deleted. Where the redundant literal existed to
document intent (`string | 'all'`), it is preserved as `(string & {})`, which
keeps the autocomplete hint the original code was reaching for instead of
flattening it away. The rule also caught a broken import —
remote-shared-control-retirement-probe.ts pulled RuntimeStatus from
src/shared/types, which does not export it, so the type silently degraded to
`any`; no tsconfig covers that file, so tsc never saw it.
oxlint stays at 1.77.0 rather than 1.78.0 because .npmrc sets
minimum-release-age=4320 and 1.78.0 is younger than that window.
Rules evaluated and rejected, with what disqualified each:
- prefer-string-raw: String.raw is a runtime call, not a literal (184x slower)
- prefer-string-replace-all: 26% slower
- text-encoding-identifier-case: ~5% slower, reproducible
- prefer-spread: [...str] is 110% slower than split('') and differs on surrogates
- no-implicit-coercion: `!!x` narrows types and `Boolean(x)` does not (22 tsc errors)
- prefer-arrow-callback: arrows are not constructible, breaking `new` on mocks
- object-shorthand: rewrites source text asserted by a tracked reliability gate
- switch-case-braces: pushes ten files past max-lines, which cannot be suppressed
- no-useless-switch-case: drops `case undefined:` that switch-exhaustiveness-check needs
- arrow-body-style: 115 violations have no fix, and it breaks max-lines
- newline-after-import: false-positives on the leading-semicolon ASI idiom
electron-vite-output-contract asserted on the literal
Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call text; retarget it to Object.hasOwn, which
rejects inherited keys identically.
Adds GitHub stacked pull request creation: a contextual "Stack this PR above #N" option that appears only when the selected base branch has an open PR, plus the main-process stack preflight and registration.
Also reworks the create-review composer for cohesion: shadcn Checkbox and Label primitives, base label above a full-width searchable combobox with attached results, keyboard navigation, and a unified field skin, spacing and typography scale.
Verified end to end against real GitHub: extending an existing stack and creating a new one.
* Fix static analysis page stuck in loading state
- Bound check-details requests with 30s timeout, matching remote RPC budget
- Track request IDs to discard stale responses when context changes
- Propagate githubRepository through store and components for proper routing
- Add retry button for failed check-details loads
- Improve accessibility with ARIA labels for loading and error states
* Fix static analysis page stuck in loading state
When an open check-details tab's repository is removed, the loading
state would continue indefinitely because the fetch was still being
triggered. Prevent the fetch call in this scenario to unblock the UI.
Also migrates translation keys to obfuscated identifiers.
* Fix static analysis page stuck in loading state
Add deadline-based timeouts and request ID tracking to prevent stale responses
from freezing the checks panel. Include abort signal propagation throughout the
request chain and provide retry UI for failed check details loads.
* fix(checks): prevent loading state from getting stuck on retry
- Consolidate mount checks into a helper function
- Details now clear when a new request begins
- Add i18n strings for retry status
* fix(repo-icon): keep a renamed fork's own owner avatar
Fork repos always took the upstream owner's avatar, so a renamed fork
showed its parent project's logo. Same-name forks (personal copies)
still prefer the upstream owner; renamed forks now keep their origin
owner across auto-detect, the startup backfill, and the settings
avatar refresh.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* fix(repo-icon): re-read repo state before backfill avatar write
The startup backfill computed icon updates from a pre-loop snapshot, so
an icon chosen in settings while the upstream/origin probes were pending
could be clobbered. Re-read the repo after the probes and only migrate
an icon that is still the auto-detected GitHub avatar.
Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5 <noreply@anthropic.com>
* refactor(repo-icon): own the fork avatar rule in one shared selector
The renamed-fork rule was written out twice — once in the main-process
auto-detect and once in the renderer refresh — so the two copies could
drift. Move it next to `githubAvatarIcon` as `githubAvatarSlug`, which
collapses the renderer resolver to a single unbranched path.
Also stop swallowing a rejected origin probe: it cannot tell a renamed
fork from a same-name one, so degrading to the upstream owner would flip
a renamed fork's stored avatar back to the parent's. Letting it propagate
keeps the stored icon, matching how the non-fork path already behaved.
Adds coverage for the startup backfill, the third decision point the fix
claims, which had none.
* test(repo-icon): cover pending backfill icon change
