Enable eleven oxlint rules that simplify code without changing behavior, and fix
every existing violation. Each candidate was gated on measured cost rather than
assumption, so rules that regressed runtime performance or type checking were
dropped instead of suppressed.
typescript/no-redundant-type-constituents is the largest addition: 113 sites, no
autofix. Dead constituents are deleted. Where the redundant literal existed to
document intent (`string | 'all'`), it is preserved as `(string & {})`, which
keeps the autocomplete hint the original code was reaching for instead of
flattening it away. The rule also caught a broken import —
remote-shared-control-retirement-probe.ts pulled RuntimeStatus from
src/shared/types, which does not export it, so the type silently degraded to
`any`; no tsconfig covers that file, so tsc never saw it.
oxlint stays at 1.77.0 rather than 1.78.0 because .npmrc sets
minimum-release-age=4320 and 1.78.0 is younger than that window.
Rules evaluated and rejected, with what disqualified each:
- prefer-string-raw: String.raw is a runtime call, not a literal (184x slower)
- prefer-string-replace-all: 26% slower
- text-encoding-identifier-case: ~5% slower, reproducible
- prefer-spread: [...str] is 110% slower than split('') and differs on surrogates
- no-implicit-coercion: `!!x` narrows types and `Boolean(x)` does not (22 tsc errors)
- prefer-arrow-callback: arrows are not constructible, breaking `new` on mocks
- object-shorthand: rewrites source text asserted by a tracked reliability gate
- switch-case-braces: pushes ten files past max-lines, which cannot be suppressed
- no-useless-switch-case: drops `case undefined:` that switch-exhaustiveness-check needs
- arrow-body-style: 115 violations have no fix, and it breaks max-lines
- newline-after-import: false-positives on the leading-semicolon ASI idiom
electron-vite-output-contract asserted on the literal
Object.prototype.hasOwnProperty.call text; retarget it to Object.hasOwn, which
rejects inherited keys identically.
* chore(dead-code): drop 2k lines of unreachable exports and orphan modules
Ran knip across every build entry (main, preload, renderer, popout, web,
cli, relay, workers, forked sidecars, config scripts) and removed what no
entry graph can reach.
- 11 orphan modules nothing imported, plus one test that only covered them
- 159 unused exports/types, with their now-dead helpers, imports and tests
Each candidate was verified against dynamic references before deletion.
42 knip hits were false positives and are kept: shared modules consumed by
the mobile/ workspace, the src/shared/plugins/** public API, vendored
shadcn primitives, and relay wire-protocol constants held for compatibility.
Adds knip.json + `pnpm audit:dead-code` so this stays measurable.
Verified: pnpm typecheck, pnpm lint, and 2081 tests across the 73 affected
test files all pass.
* chore(dead-code): move knip config under config/
Root-level additions are blocked by the root directory guard.

* fix(pty): do not create unused Pi/OMP home dirs on bare shells
Bare terminals used to materialize ~/.pi/agent and ~/.omp/agent (and install
managed extensions) for possible later shell-launched agents. Users who never
use those agents still saw the directories recreated after deletion.
Only create the default agent home when launching that agent explicitly, or
when the home already exists. Bare-shell OMP status still uses the userData
fallback so typed `omp` keeps the shell wrapper extension.
Closes#10196
* fix(relay): OMP bare-shell status fallback without ~/.omp
CodeRabbit: relay materializePi returned null on bare shells with a missing
OMP home, so SSH PTYs never set ORCA_OMP_STATUS_EXTENSION. Local already
wrote a userData-managed status extension in that case.
Write the status file under ~/.orca-relay/omp-managed-status-extension and
return MaterializePiResult so relay.ts can export ORCA_OMP_STATUS_EXTENSION
without ORCA_OMP_SOURCE_AGENT_DIR or creating ~/.omp. Also fix the local
withOrcaManagedExtensionMarker typo on the bare-shell path.
* fix(pty): only materialize Pi home for Pi launches

Preserve OMP session identity and exact resume paths across cold restoration, AI Vault, mobile, WSL/SSH, and host-authority routes. Add mixed-version fallback and completed-session recovery coverage.
* feat(agents): pi session resume support
* fix(pi): require persisted session files for resume
* test(sleeping-agent): use non-resumable sentinel in malformed-record fixture
The 'drops malformed sleeping agent resume records' test used agent:'pi' as
its example of an unknown/non-resumable agent, expecting the record to be
dropped. This PR added 'pi' to RESUMABLE_TUI_AGENTS, making that fixture
valid and retained, so the toBeUndefined assertion broke. Switch the
malformed-case fixture to a genuinely non-resumable sentinel
('definitely-not-an-agent') so the drop-malformed path is still exercised;
no other assertions changed.
* Add durable resume identity for Pi sessions without fabricating turn sta
Pi's `session_start` hook now carries the session file needed to resume
a sleeping pane, but until now Orca either discarded it or treated it
as a fake status transition. Thread a `providerSessionOnly` envelope
through the hook listener, relay, main-process server, and renderer
store so resume identity (and its session-file-scoped equality/claim
key) can be persisted and replayed without emitting prompt telemetry
or a visible working/done row.
* Add durable resume identity for completed Pi sessions
Pi's agent_end hook marks a turn done, but the underlying TUI session
stays alive and resumable. Previously a `done` status wiped sleeping
records and launch config as if the session ended, so hibernation,
manual worktree sleep, and quit-capture all lost Pi's resume identity.
- Track a "live recovery" record for done-but-still-resumable Pi
sessions, exempting it from the usual done-state cleanup paths in
agent-status.ts and agent-hibernation-planner.ts
- Gate providerSessionOnly rows and sleeping-agent schema records on
actual resumability (getAgentResumeArgv) instead of trusting the
presence of a provider session
- Wait for Pi to persist its session file before advertising resume
metadata, and treat `/reload` as a non-terminal event so it doesn't
clobber visible status
- Extend SSH relay envelopes to carry providerSessionOnly so remote
hosts get the same behavior
* Add explicit periodic/quit mode to sleeping-agent session capture
Split captureAllSleepingAgentSessions into 'periodic' and 'quit' modes
so a background checkpoint can no longer downgrade a confirmed-quit
record or promote a completed Pi session without an authoritative
transcript path. Updates all call sites and tests accordingly.
* Use normalizeAgentStatusPayload for default pi status
Remove unnecessary JSON.stringify wrapper and call the appropriate normalization function directly.

Pi's agent_end fires per low-level run — auto-retry, auto-compaction and
queued follow-ups all emit it while the agent is still working — so Orca
fired premature completion notifications. Pi >= 0.80.4 emits
agent_settled exactly once when nothing is left to run.
The extension now subscribes to both events: the first agent_settled
proves runtime support and mutes agent_end reporting from then on; on
older Pi/OMP runtimes (where unknown event names register silently and
never fire) agent_end keeps reporting done exactly as before. The
settled handler reports the existing agent_end hook event, so the
agent-hooks server contract is unchanged.
* fix(pi): suppress subagent agent_end so nested sessions don't fire false notifications
Pi/OMP run subagents as nested child processes that inherit the lead
pane's env (including ORCA_PANE_KEY), each loading its own copy of the
orca-agent-status.ts extension. A child's agent_end was attributed to the
lead pane, firing a false "agent finished" notification on every subagent
completion.
Gate status reporting to the top-level Pi process per pane via an
ORCA_PI_STATUS_OWNED env marker: the first process claims the pane and
sets the marker; any Pi it spawns inherits it and stays silent. Keyed on
process nesting (not hasUI) so a top-level non-interactive `pi -p` run
still reports its own completion.
* test(pi): assert nested-subagent silence for every guarded event, not just agent_end
* fix(pi): key status owner on pid so extension reload doesn't silence the lead
The subagent-suppression gate marked the pane owner with a boolean
ORCA_PI_STATUS_OWNED='1'. Pi re-invokes an extension's default export on
every in-process reload (/reload, live edit, settings reload), so the lead
process re-ran the factory, read the '1' it had set on first load, and
treated itself as a nested subagent — silencing all its own status
(working, tools, done, notifications) for the rest of the session.
Record the owning process's pid instead. A same-process reload matches its
own pid and keeps reporting; a spawned subagent inherits the lead's pid,
sees it differs from its own, and stays silent. Startup was unaffected
(bindExtensions runs the factory once), which is why the single-run trace
missed it.
Add a reload regression test that re-invokes the factory in the same
process and asserts the lead still reports; it fails against the boolean
marker.

* fix(pi): gate nested status hooks at registration

Pi awaits its extension event handlers, so an awaited loopback status
post that stalls (Orca restarting / receiver unavailable) blocked the
running Pi turn and disconnected it. Make post() fire-and-forget with a
latest-only pending slot drained by a single active request and a 1s
AbortController timeout, so a stalled receiver can never hold the turn.
Also stop treating session_shutdown as turn completion: Pi emits it on
reload/new/resume/fork while the PTY stays alive, so only agent_end
proves done (real exit is cleared by PTY teardown). Split the generated
handler registrations into agent-status-handler-source.ts.

* chore(lint): upgrade oxlint to 1.71 and enable 7 new rules
Upgrade oxlint 1.67.0 -> 1.71.0 (1.72 was blocked by the repo's 3-day
minimum-release-age supply-chain guard; nothing here needs it). The
bump is a no-op on the existing config.
Enable 3 error rules (backlog autofixed to zero in this commit) and
4 warn rules (surface signal without gating CI):
error (autofixed, behavior-preserving):
- unicorn/prefer-node-protocol (~1531 sites: bare builtin -> node:)
- typescript/no-import-type-side-effects (~36: all-inline-type -> import type)
- unicorn/no-array-reverse (19: copy-then-reverse -> toReversed)
warn (real signal, current fires are test-only/correct):
- unicorn/no-array-fill-with-reference-type (aliasing footgun guard)
- typescript/no-unsafe-function-type (bans bare Function type)
- unicorn/prefer-array-flat-map (map().flat() -> flatMap())
- unicorn/prefer-regexp-test (.match() in bool ctx -> .test())
mobile/.oxlintrc.json extends root, so it inherits all 7; the autofix
ran from root and covered mobile/ too.
Verification (all green): oxlint 0 errors (root+mobile+aux configs),
oxfmt clean, typecheck (node+cli+web), vitest 22795 passed / 0 failed,
builds (electron-vite + web + cli) succeed. node: rewrites confirmed to
skip embedded SSH/CLI string payloads (AST-only); all toReversed sites
verified to operate on fresh copies or write-once locals.
* chore(lint): bump mobile oxlint to 1.71 so inherited rules parse
mobile/ is a standalone pnpm project pinning its own oxlint@1.67, which
lacks unicorn/no-array-fill-with-reference-type (needs >=1.70). Since
mobile/.oxlintrc.json extends the root config, mobile CI's 'cd mobile &&
oxlint' failed to parse the new rule. Bump mobile to match root (1.71).
Verified in mobile/: oxlint 0 errors, oxfmt --check clean, tsc --noEmit
pass, vitest 978 passed / 0 failed.

OMP creates SQLite databases like agent.db lazily under the agent PTY
directory. Proactively pre-create and link these database files (plus WAL/SHM
sidecars on Windows) to the user's persistent store so that credentials and
history are not lost in disposable overlays.
- Implement `mirrorOmpPersistentSqliteFiles` to handle linking `agent.db`
- Support both Unix symlinks and Windows hardlinks for writable state
- Extract prefill and titlebar extension source code into separate files
Adds OMP as a first-class TUI agent and keeps Pi/OMP overlay state isolated across local and relay PTY paths.\n\nValidated locally with focused Vitest coverage, typecheck, lint, git diff --check, and Electron manual verification using installed omp (omp/15.3.2).
Reordered pi prefill extension to check event.reason before consuming env var; appended shell unset/clear for ORCA_PI_PREFILL after pi exits to avoid stale prefill on rerun.
Findings addressed:
- src/main/pi/titlebar-extension-service.ts:36-46 — Prefill env var consumed before reason check — may silently drop prefill
- src/main/pi/titlebar-extension-service.ts:30-46 — ORCA_PI_PREFILL still set in shell env after pi exits
Rebased onto current main.

When the new-workspace draft flow targets pi (e.g. user picks a GH issue
in the smart input + selects pi as the agent), the URL was supposed to
land in pi's input box as an editable draft. It didn't, because pi has
no `--prefill` flag and our bracketed-paste-after-ready path waits for
1.5s of stream silence after `\x1b[?2004h` — pi's startup banner
(Skills/Prompts/Extensions/conflicts) prints continuously for 5+ seconds,
which keeps the quiet-timer resetting until the 8s budget expires and
the paste is dropped. Claude works because of `--prefill`; codex works
because its startup is short enough to hit the quiet window.
Fix mirrors Claude's `--prefill` semantics for pi:
- Orca's pi overlay now installs a tiny `orca-prefill.ts` extension
alongside the existing titlebar spinner. On `session_start` it reads
`ORCA_PI_PREFILL` and calls `pi.ui.setEditorText(text)`, then deletes
the env var so subsequent /new sessions don't re-prefill.
- `TuiAgentConfig` gains `draftPromptEnvVar`; pi sets it to
`ORCA_PI_PREFILL`.
- `buildAgentDraftLaunchPlan` returns `{ launchCommand: 'pi', env: {...} }`
for env-var agents; the env is plumbed through `startup.env` into
`pty:spawn` (already supported by pty-connection.ts).
The launched shell command stays a clean `pi` — no `FOO='...' pi` prefix
typed into the terminal — and the readiness race is sidestepped entirely.
