feat: let operators compose flows when the workspace grants the right (#11228)
* feat: let a workspace withdraw operator schedule and trigger writes Operators can create, edit and delete schedules and triggers today through the API, CLI and MCP, while the operator_settings flags beside them only hide those pages. An admin who wants operators to see what is scheduled without letting them change it cannot express that. Add manage_schedules and manage_triggers as enforced settings, gated at the schedule handlers and at the generic TriggerCrud routes so every trigger kind is covered by one check. They name capabilities operators already hold, so they are granted unless withdrawn, and absence has to mean "never configured" rather than a value. The read coalesces to true; the update endpoint merges into the stored jsonb with the two fields as Option<bool>, so an omitted key keeps what is stored. operator_settings is git-synced as a whole object, so a settings file written before these keys existed reaches the endpoint on every pull, and a serde or SQL default of either polarity would turn that pull into a silent withdrawal or restoration. The rights are read through a per-process cache, so withdrawing one publishes a notify_event that drops the entry on every replica. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01Dsf6VC4MVLisiEoeQkgbr4 * feat: let operators compose flows when the workspace grants the right Adds operator_settings.builder_flows: a workspace setting that lets every operator compose flows out of runnables that already exist. It does not make them authors. The boundary the operator role draws is authoring code and running arbitrary code, and this does not move it: check_flow_is_composition_only walks the value and refuses anything carrying code, including the shapes an obvious walk misses (code hoisted into a flow_node, an AI agent step's tools, and a linked ai_agent resource whose tool list is resolved at run time). What the walk cannot settle it returns for the caller to authorize under RLS: the worker tags the steps pin, every runnable they reference, and the (path, hash) of every version-pinned step. Composing a path is enough to run it and to run it as whoever it runs as, since the worker resolves a step's path with the root DB handle and adopts that runnable's on_behalf_of. A pinned hash needs its own check because dispatch ignores the path beside it. The gate runs on every write and on both request-supplied-value paths, flow preview and flow dependencies, or either becomes the way to run what the write path refuses. Operators of a builder workspace consume a full author seat; the EE companion carries the counting. The builder's editor hides the dropdown types and code, and previews options through the deployed flow; the inline dropdown refusal is a 403 so it no longer logs operators out. Also trims rationale comments repeated across sites. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: show why saving operator settings failed The seat-cap refusal on granting builder rights explains what to do; the toast now carries the server's message instead of a generic failure. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: check builder flow drafts like deploys and treat dropdown code as code A developer who loads a builder's flow draft in the editor runs its dynamic dropdown code as themselves, so a builder's draft now passes the same checks as a deploy. Dropdown code is refused like step code rather than kept or dropped, which also removes the exact-match comparison that refused builders over whitespace. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: bill a builder workspace's operators as developers on cloud The cloud seat count behind the Premium page, the sidebar usage and the fork cap still weighed every operator at half a seat, while the builder right makes them authors. The out-of-repo invoicing job must follow the same rule. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: check a builder's flow draft as it will be stored Draft storage strips NUL escapes after the builder check, so a key ending in one (value\u0000, x-windmill-dyn-select-code\u0000) passed the check as an unknown field and was stored under its plain name. The check now reads the sanitized text. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: list a builder's flow drafts and hide hub imports from builders A builder's undeployed flows now appear in the home list, the flow list and the folder counts. Hub project imports and templates bring scripts and apps along, so builders are no longer offered them. The docs record builders' JavaScript expressions as an accepted risk. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: keep the stored builder right when a settings payload omits it A git-synced settings file written before the key existed withdrew the right on every push. builder_flows now follows the manage_* rights: an omitted key leaves the stored value, and the CLI does not count it as a difference. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: word builder refusals by what the flow contains, test the tag refusal A builder refused on a developer's flow never changed its code, so the refusals now describe the flow ("has inline code, so only a developer can edit this flow") rather than an authoring attempt. The grant confirmation uses the neutral dialog: granting changes billing but destroys nothing. The integration test pins the refusal of a worker tag the workspace cannot use. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: read builder rights from the operating workspace, gate the flow page's audit logs entry Builder rights now come from useOperatorBuilderFlows(), next to the schedule and trigger locks, so an editor embedded for another workspace answers about that workspace; the legacy AI chat, one instance for the whole app, reads the navigation workspace. The flow page's Audit logs entry follows the operator audit_logs setting now that builders open that menu. Operator settings reset every value on load, null settings included, so nothing carries over from the previous workspace. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: pick a dynamic dropdown's code source by the operating user's role The flow input editor, the flow test panel and the flow chat send the dropdown request to the operating workspace, so they now also choose inline versus deployed code by the role held there, through useOperatingUser(), instead of the navigation workspace's. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * chore: update ee-repo-ref to 40ac1c5f8cbce3843b582d9b392d3f3cc7eca3e6 This commit updates the EE repository reference after PR #815 was merged in windmill-ee-private. fix: pre-fill the test panel JSON args editor and align its placeholder (#10871)
* fix: pre-fill the test panel JSON args editor and align its placeholder Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: reseed the JSON args editor when the preprocessor tab is selected Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: seed schema defaults and own-property args in the JSON payload Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: follow the schema in an untouched JSON payload, ignore same-tab clicks Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: latch JSON editor ownership from Monaco, drop the late remounts The pristine check read the bound `code` value, which trails the buffer by SimpleEditor's 200ms debounce — a reseed arriving in that window overwrote text already typed. Latch ownership from Monaco's own change event instead, via a new undebounced `input` event guarded so `setCode`'s `setValue` does not read as an edit. Both `.then(() => argsRender++)` bumps are gone: the arg views now remount at the tab transition only, and follow the schema in through `initialCode` when inference resolves, so a remount can no longer land on an in-progress payload. `FlowPreviewContent.selectInput` overwrote the editor on select but not on deselect, leaving the abandoned input's payload over reverted args. feat: redesign flow step, loop and branch settings panels (#10026)
* feat: responsive modal step panel for the flow editor in sessions On narrow layouts the flow editor's step-details pane opens as a modal (double-click a graph node) instead of a split pane, with a dock/float toggle. Scoped to sessions via allowModalPanel; the full-page editor is unchanged. - FlowEditor: modal/docked modes gated by mount width + allowModalPanel, small header (step-id Badge + subtle dock/close), standing double-click hint, and a per-step hint in the name tooltip - selectionManager: onSelectIntent hook so flow-level panels (settings, input, triggers…) open the modal on single click - PropPickerWrapper: collapse the prop picker until connect and animate it in via AnimatedPane (runs-page pattern), no blue connect ring in modal mode - StepInputGen: drop the TAB/Wand autocompletion button + spinner (feature still works via focus + Tab) - InputTransformForm: decouple the Help dropdown from the AI suggestion - FlowModuleHeader: move 'Save to workspace' into an ellipsis dropdown Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix: loop editor rendering and nested splitpanes splitters in the sessions modal - Loop iterator/parallelism: keep the picker split pane (forceExpanded) so the editor fills its box and the picker shows; the collapse-until-connect mode stays for the step inputs - Remove the intrusive AI TAB/Wand autocompletion button from IteratorGen (generation still runs headless via focus + Tab) - Size the iterator connect plug and restyle the loop header/labels/toggles - Scope the global `.splitter-hidden` splitter-hiding rule to direct children so it no longer leaks into nested Splitpanes under the sessions preview Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 (1M context) <noreply@anthropic.com> * feat: redesign flow step advanced Any nested-restart chain targeting a leaf inside such an iteration is rejected by the API at leaf validation. Even if a chain reached the worker via `JobPayload::RawFlow.restarted_from`, the resulting `RestartedFlow` would fail to push (script kind isn't a flow kind). Replaced the swap with an explanatory comment so the next reader knows why the symmetry with the non-simple path was deliberately not added. fix: OutputPicker shows stale result after 'Test up to here' (#8390)
OutputPickerInner.updateLastJob() unconditionally returned testJob (from individual step tests) even when flowStateStore had newer results from a flow test. Now testJob only takes priority when a step test is actively running/streaming; otherwise flowStateStore is the source of truth. Also reset stepHistoryLoader initial flags when a flow test completes so the "Run loaded from history" indicator doesn't persist. add flow recording and offline replay (#8080)
Add the ability to record a flow test execution and replay it offline without any API calls. This is useful for debugging, sharing, and reviewing flow executions outside of a running Windmill instance. Recording: - "Test flow & record" option in the flow editor three-dots menu opens the test drawer in recording mode - While in recording mode, running a test captures all job events (SSE streams, sub-job completions, flow status transitions) along with the flow definition into a downloadable JSON file - Recording state module (flowRecording.svelte.ts) manages active recording/replay instances at the module level Replay: - Standalone /replay page where users upload a recording JSON file and watch the flow execute with real-time status transitions - FlowRecordingReplay component handles timestamp rebasing, event ordering fixes, and drives FlowStatusViewer with recorded data - JobLoader intercepts replay mode to feed recorded events via timed callbacks instead of real SSE/polling - FlowStatusViewerInner and FlowLogViewer guard all API call sites to prevent network requests during replay - Job links, log downloads, and resource lookups are suppressed in replay mode Co-authored-by: Claude Opus 4.6 <noreply@anthropic.com> |

feat(aichat): simplify flow mode edits (#6981)
* draft
* Phase 1: Remove deprecated granular flow AI tools
Simplify AI chat flow mode to use only YAML-based editing:
- Remove all commented-out granular tools (add_step, remove_step, set_code, etc.)
- Clean up FlowAIChatHelpers interface to only essential methods
- Update system prompts to focus on YAML-only workflow
- Remove unused imports and type definitions
This is part of a larger refactoring to simplify the flow editing
experience to a single YAML editing tool with automatic diff visualization.

* Refactor flowDiffManager to be instance-based with auto-computation
- Remove singleton export, making it instantiable per FlowGraphV2
- Add afterFlow state tracking for auto-diff computation
- Add beforeInputSchema/afterInputSchema for schema change tracking
- Add $effect for reactive auto-computation when beforeFlow/afterFlow changes
- Add setAfterFlow() and setInputSchemas() methods
- Simplify accept/reject methods to just mark pending=false
- Add validation to throw error when accepting/rejecting without beforeFlow
- Update setSnapshot to accept undefined for clearing

* Refactor FlowGraphV2 to own diffManager instance
- Import and create diffManager instance per FlowGraphV2
- Remove onAcceptModule and onRejectModule props
- Add validation $effect to error if both diffBeforeFlow and moduleActions provided
- Add $effect to sync props (diffBeforeFlow or moduleActions) to diffManager
- Add $effect to watch current flow changes and update afterFlow
- Replace computedDiff with diffManager.moduleActions
- Use raw modules instead of merged flow (diffManager handles merging)
- Expose getDiffManager() and setBeforeFlow() methods
- Pass diffManager to graph context instead of callbacks
- Remove $inspect for removed props

* Update FlowModuleSchemaMap to use FlowGraphV2's diffManager
- Remove import of flowDiffManager singleton
- Update setBeforeFlow to call graph.setBeforeFlow()
- Update setModuleActions and getModuleActions to use graph.getDiffManager()
- Add getDiffManager() proxy method
- Simplify handleAcceptModule and handleRejectModule to use new API
- Handle editor state separately from diff operations
- Remove diffBeforeFlow, moduleActions, onAcceptModule, onRejectModule props passed to FlowGraphV2
- Remove onAcceptModule and onRejectModule from Props interface and destructured props

* Verify FlowGraphDiffViewer compatibility with refactored architecture
FlowGraphDiffViewer already uses the correct prop patterns:
- Before graph: moduleActions prop (display-only mode)
- After graph: diffBeforeFlow prop (full diff mode with auto-computation)
Each FlowGraphV2 instance creates its own diffManager, making the side-by-side
view work correctly with independent diff state per graph.
No code changes required.

* Update graph components to use diffManager instead of callbacks
- Update graphBuilder.svelte.ts to pass diffManager instead of onAcceptModule/onRejectModule
- Update InputNode and ModuleN type definitions with diffManager
- Update ModuleNode.svelte to pass diffManager to MapItem
- Update MapItem.svelte to pass diffManager to FlowModuleSchemaItem
- Update FlowModuleSchemaItem.svelte to use diffManager directly for accept/reject
- Replace callback-based accept/reject with direct diffManager calls
- Only show accept/reject buttons when beforeFlow exists and action is pending

* Fix removed modules not showing in diff viewer
Problem: After refactoring, removed modules were no longer appearing in the
diff viewer because we changed effectiveModules from using the merged flow
(which includes removed modules) to using raw modules.
Solution:
- Add mergedFlow state to flowDiffManager to store timeline's merged flow
- Add markRemovedAsShadowed parameter support for side-by-side view
- Store timeline.mergedFlow in auto-computation $effect
- Add getter for mergedFlow and setMarkRemovedAsShadowed method
- Clear mergedFlow in clearSnapshot()
- Update FlowGraphV2 to set markRemovedAsShadowed in diffManager
- Update effectiveModules/FailureModule/PreprocessorModule to use mergedFlow
The merged flow contains all modules including removed ones, enabling:
- Unified view: Removed modules appear in red with "removed" badge
- Side-by-side view: Removed modules show as shadowed in After graph

* Simplify accept/reject logic by removing actions instead of toggling pending state
Previously, accepting or rejecting a module action would set pending to false but keep the action in the moduleActions map. This caused a bug where the $effect would overwrite moduleActions with fresh actions having pending: true, making accept/reject buttons reappear on previously handled modules.
Now, when a user accepts or rejects a module action, we remove it entirely from the moduleActions map. This is simpler and fixes the button reappearing issue.
Changes:
- acceptModule: Remove action from moduleActions instead of setting pending: false
- rejectModule: Remove action from moduleActions instead of setting pending: false
- checkAndClearSnapshot: Check if moduleActions is empty instead of checking pending states
- Fix typo: getModuleFromFrom → getModuleFromFlow

* cleaning
* fix logic
* make diff drawer part of manager
* accept submodules
* fixes
* Phase 4: Add checkAndApplyChanges() helper to flowDiffManager
- Added new checkAndApplyChanges() function to apply mergedFlow to flowStore when all changes are decided
- This replaces the old checkAndClearSnapshot() behavior and ensures flowStore is updated atomically
- Handles both flow structure and input schema updates
* Phase 2: Simplify acceptModule() - only modify mergedFlow
- Remove flowStore mutations from acceptModule()
- For removed modules: just delete the shadowed (__prefix) version from mergedFlow
- For added/modified: no action needed (already correct in mergedFlow)
- Call checkAndApplyChanges() to apply changes when all decided
* Phase 3: Simplify rejectModule() - only modify mergedFlow
- Remove all flowStore mutations from rejectModule()
- For added modules: delete from mergedFlow
- For removed modules: replace shadowed (__) module with original from beforeFlow
- For modified modules: restore old version in mergedFlow
- For Input schema: revert afterInputSchema
- Call checkAndApplyChanges() to apply changes when all decided
* Phase 5: Verify acceptAll/rejectAll work with new architecture
- acceptAll() and rejectAll() already pass options correctly to acceptModule/rejectModule
- They will automatically benefit from checkAndApplyChanges()
- No changes needed for this phase
* Phase 6: Remove FlowGraphV2 reactive effect that updates afterFlow
- Removed the (lines 252-266) that continuously updated afterFlow
- This effect created reactive loops when flowStore changed
- afterFlow should only be set once when AI generates changes via setFlowYaml()
- The initial sync effect (lines 226-250) is kept for prop-driven diff mode
* Phase 7: Update FlowAIChat setFlowYaml to use diffManager
- Changed setFlowYaml() to use diffManager.setAfterFlow() instead of modifying flowStore
- flowStore remains unchanged during AI review phase
- Changes are staged in mergedFlow for user review
- Only applied to flowStore when all changes are accepted/rejected
- Added error handling for missing diffManager
* Fix linter warnings
- Remove unused FlowTimeline type import
- Fix ChangeTracker initialization with proper type parameter
- Keep deleteModuleFromFlow and checkAndClearSnapshot for potential future use
* Update plan document with implementation status
- Mark all phases as complete
- Add commit references
- Update file checklist
- Add implementation summary at top of document
* Add comprehensive implementation summary document
- Detailed overview of architecture changes
- Before/after comparisons for each file
- Complete testing scenarios checklist

* Show pending modules in editor panel
- Pass diffManager from FlowModuleSchemaMap to FlowEditorPanel
- Add effectiveModules derived value that uses mergedFlow when in diff mode
- Update module iteration to use effectiveModules instead of flowStore
- Allows users to view added/modified modules during AI review
- Fixes issue where clicking on pending modules showed nothing
* Add implementation summary for show pending modules feature
* fix
* shorter system prompt
* Fix Input schema diff mode issues
- Add Accept/Reject buttons to Input node (previously only showed Diff button)
- Pass diffManager to FlowInput component
- Add effectiveSchema derived value that uses afterInputSchema when in diff mode
- Add effectiveDisabled to prevent editing Input when reviewing AI changes
- Update FlowInputViewer to show pending schema changes
- Fixes issue where Input schema changes couldn't be accepted/rejected
- Fixes issue where pending Input schema wasn't visible in the panel
* Disable delete and move buttons when in pending mode
- Add effectiveDeletable derived value that checks diffManager.hasPendingChanges
- Replace all instances of deletable with effectiveDeletable in template
- Prevents delete/move operations when AI changes are being reviewed
- Delete and move buttons are hidden when there are pending changes
- Buttons reappear once all changes are accepted or rejected
- Prevents conflicting operations during review phase
