- The `>>> 0` rationale used a worked example that is arithmetically false.
-36863 >>> 0 is 4294930433, which is not a table key, so the one input cited to
justify the guard could never have hit it. A reader who checked the arithmetic
would have found the guard unmotivated and removed it — the opposite of intent.
Replaced with inputs that actually wrap onto real codes: 1.5 -> 1 and
-4294967278 -> 18, both verified by execution.
- The span attribute was untested on the new path. win32 launch-failed is the first
launch-failed case to decode to a value, so `crash.exit_code_decoded` gained a
value with nothing pinning it, in a funnel whose docstring promises the report text
and the span cannot drift. Added the win32 case, and narrowed the sibling test's
name, which still claimed launch-failed is never decoded.
- 66 of 71 table rows were asserted nowhere. The enum is contiguous by construction,
so one loop asserting exactly {0, 62} are the undecodable values in 0..72 catches a
dropped or renumbered row without restating the table twice. Verified load-bearing:
renumbering row 45 fails it.
Mutation results, stated precisely because the earlier claim was loose: adding `>>> 0`
alone changes nothing (the guard rejects those inputs first) and removing the guard
alone changes nothing (the lookup misses anyway). Each is individually a no-op, so no
test can catch either in isolation. Removing BOTH is caught, by 1.5 and -4294967278 —
and that pair is the realistic regression, because adding the coercion is exactly what
makes the guard look redundant.
