Crash report a8562106 (v1.4.201, win32 10.0.26100, Electron 43.7.0) arrived as
`Reason: launch-failed`, `Exit code: 18`, `minidumpStatus: absent` and could not be
triaged, because `describeCrashReportExitCode` returned null for every launch-failed
report. The bare `18` is the whole signal a triager gets.
18 is not an exit status. A launch-failed child never ran, so its code comes from a
third namespace: Chromium's `sandbox::ResultCode`, where 18 is
`SBOX_ERROR_CREATE_PROCESS` — the broker's CreateProcess call for the renderer target
was refused. Transcribed from `sandbox/win/src/sandbox_types.h` at Chromium
150.0.7871.250, the exact version Electron 43.7.0 pins.
Add `windows-launch-failure-code.ts` as a third peer beside `windows-crash-exit-code.ts`
and `posix-wait-status.ts`, and decode launch-failed in its own branch — deliberately
*before* the platform dispatch, so a launch code can never fall through to a table that
would misname it. The same 18 renders three ways depending on `reason` and platform, and
the tests pin all three.
Kept narrow on purpose:
- win32 only. Chromium can only ever report LAUNCH_RESULT_FAILURE on darwin/linux, so
naming a sandbox stage there would invent a cause. Those platforms render exactly as
they did before.
- No `>>> 0` normalization, unlike the NTSTATUS table: unsigned coercion would wrap a
negative status such as -36863 into this table and name it a sandbox stage.
- SBOX_ALL_OK (0) and SBOX_ERROR_UNSANDBOXED_PROCESS (62) are excluded. 62 is ordinary
control flow for routing a child down the unsandboxed path; naming it an error would
report normal behaviour as a fault.
- Codes past the table degrade to the raw number. Chromium declares the enum append-only
("listed in a histogram and any new codes should be added at the end"), so a future
code cannot borrow a neighbour's name.
