The runtime controller's spawn reply projected the provider result onto a narrow shape that omitted `pid`, in both `commitRuntimePtySpawn`'s response and `toRuntimeSpawnReply`. The daemon publishes the shell pid and `commitRuntimePtySpawn` already registers it, so the value was available and simply not returned. `createTerminal` therefore never set `processId`, and the structured native-chat handoff's identity guard (`orca-runtime-structured-agent-session-launch-tui.ts`) threw "The resumed terminal did not publish a process identity." immediately after the resume spawned. Its cleanup then closed the terminal, killing the Codex process about a second after it started - which read as Codex exiting on its own. On Windows this made every claimed structured resume fail, and left the session in `manual-recovery` with no owner process to recover from. Forwarding the pid restores the guard's input. No check is weakened: an absent pid still fails closed.
